Each member of Team Halo plays a pivotal role in our collective success, but who are these recruitment heroes and what secrets are they hiding? There must be something more to them than just talent acquisition! Let’s find out as we put them through an exclusive tell-all interview!

Here Sharon shares her insights, experiences, and a few behind-the-scenes anecdotes that make Sharon, who she is….

What nicknames do you go by?

Most people just call me Shazzer. At work, Amanda calls me Shazbags.

Where are you from?

I’m originally from Stevenage but my mum and dad brought me to Milton Keynes.

What do you love about where you live?

I love that Milton Keynes has so many places to take a walk and clear your mind. Clean, fresh air gives a clean and positive mindset!

Tell us three things that motivate you.

Achieving goals & targets, physical exercise and wellbeing and my girls.

What did you always want to be and how have you come to work in Recruitment?

I wanted to be an Air Hostess – A bit ironic as I’m actually not a fan of flying! I didn’t even think of recruitment as a profession, I started of temping for an agency as I didn’t want a permanent position due to my father being seriously ill. After six months I was approached by the MD, as they needed a strong administrator in their business and I accepted the role. After a while I realised how much I loved helping candidates when they walked through the door to register and I wanted to do more, so I asked whether I could develop my skills as a Junior Recruitment Consultant, this was back in 1990 and I’ve strived to be the best that I can to this day.

How did you become a member of Team Halo?

I joined Halo in February 2020, as a Temp and shortly after became a permanent member of the team as an Account Manager.

What do you most like about your job?

I’m a people person and I love the satisfaction of being able to fill a role, by filling both the candidate and clients needs, everyone wins!

How do you deal with work stress?

I try to take myself away from stressful situations and give myself time to gather my thoughts. It helps me to speak with a colleague about my feelings too.

What do you think is a really important piece of advice for a client going through the hiring process?

You have to be realistic when you are setting your expectations and looking for your next star employee. Look outside of what is on a CV, you never know what you might find.

What is a great interview question that you think employers should ask a candidate?

Why do you think you are a fit for this opportunity, and what can you bring to the company that will set you aside from other candidates?

What does your average weekend look like?

Too short!

What’s a fun fact about you that many people may not know?

I don’t have a toe nail on my left foot.

Where’s your favourite place in the world and why?

Malta as it brings back wonderful memories of wonderful family holidays.

What is the one thing, you can’t live without and why?

My girls, they are my life!

If you could only eat one condiment for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Garlic.

I don’t think Garlic counts as a condiment.

Garlic Salt.
