This year, on World Mental Health Day, we joined the global conversation to raise awareness about the importance of mental health as a universal human right. It’s something that we’re particularly passionate about. As we thought about it and discussed mental health together, as a team we examined ways that we could improve mental well-being in the workplace, for both office-based and remote workers.
So, here are some valuable tips to help improve your mental health at work, share them with your teams! 👇
For Office Team Members
- Prioritise your work-life balance. Set clear boundaries between work and personal time, that means not checking your emails and turning off notifications
- Take your breaks. Short breaks throughout the day can refresh your mind and boost your productivity
- Foster a supportive environment. Encourage open communication in your office and create a place for mental health resources
- Stay active: Getting some fresh air and going for a walk has a positive impact on your mental well-being
- Seek professional help when needed: Don’t hesitate to reach out for support if you’re struggling
For Remote Team Members
- Create a dedicated workspace. A separate area helps to maintain a clear division between work and home life
- Establish a routine. Consistency in your daily schedule can reduce stress and anxiety
- Stay connected. Regular video calls with colleagues will combat feelings of isolation
- Manage your time effectively. Use time management techniques to avoid burnout
- Stay well-informed. Keep up with the latest resources and tools for remote work success
You don’t have to increase your workload too much to do the last one either! Mind’s website has lots of great resources for remote workers and you can just keep an eye on their webpage here.
